Contribution of the Student Scientific Journal EsTuSalud to scientific production on COVID-19

Abstract

Introduction: The emergence of the
first case infected by SARS-Cov-2
marked a new line of research and
scientific production, in search of new
treatments, vaccines and clinical
epidemiological behavior of the disease.
Objective: to characterize the scientific
production on Covid-19 in the Student
Scientific Journal of Las Tunas.
Method: a bibliometric study was
carried out, where 100% of the articles
published on COVID-19 in the Student
Scientific Journal EsTuSalud, of the
University of Medical Sciences of Las
Tunas in the period from December
2019 to December 2024 were analyzed;
the journal's platform and Google
Scholar were used for this purpose. The
search equation was used for document
extraction ("Covid-19" OR "SARS-CoV-
2").
Results: A total of 11 articles related to
COVID-19 were produced. The year
with the highest publication was 2022
with 6 articles. The typology of the
works was characterized by a
predominance of original articles with 7.
The University of Medical Sciences of
Las Tunas stood out with a
representation of 14 authors. Articles
with 2 signatures predominated in 6
articles. The most cited article:
"Educational intervention to raise
knowledge about COVID-19 in older
adults." published in 2020 with 12
citations. The co-occurrence of 2
keywords "Covid-19, and sars-cov2"
predominated in order of frequency.
Conclusions: This research provides
key references to increase the quality
and scientific productivity related to
COVID-19, having as a reference, the
Student Scientific Journal EsTuSalud.
