Abstract

Introduction: Ectopic pregnancy is one of the conditions that most increase maternal morbidity and mortality; therefore, it is essential to establish a timely diagnosis.

Objective: To perform the clinical-epidemiological characterization of pregnant women diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy.

Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, cross-sectional study was conducted on pregnant women between 18 and 35 years of age with a diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy at the "Fe del Valle Ramos" Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital from 2018 to 2019. The universe consisted of 152 patients.

Results: The predominant age range was 27 to 29 years in 37 patients (24.3 %), the predominant reason for consultation was bleeding in 84 patients (55.3 %), the predominant referred symptom was abdominal pain in 132 patients (86.8 %), the predominant risk factor was the use of intrauterine devices in 77 patients (50.6 %), the predominant sign was tachycardia in 138 patients (90.7 %).

Conclusions: The most frequent clinical-epidemiological characteristics in ectopic pregnancy are age at the end of the third decade, as well as abdominal pain and tachycardia.
